Valerie Lakios

As HR Consultant, Valerie serves as a team member on ERC’s HR Help Desk, where she provides members with trusted guidance and practical recommendations on a wide range of HR and workplace topics, including employee relations, compliance, policies, talent management, and the employee life cycle. Valerie also partners with ERC clients on project-based consulting work, including job analysis, HR support, and other organizational initiatives designed to strengthen workplace practices.

Valerie has more than 20 years of comprehensive HR experience in areas such as talent acquisition, talent management, employee handbook development, policy and training compliance, employee relations, job description development, and training and development.

Prior to joining ERC, Valerie was an HR Business Partner at Jonathan Rose Companies where she focused on talent acquisition, onboarding, talent development, performance management, goal setting, employee surveys, and employee relations. She also spent more than 14 years at Forest City Realty Trust (now Brookfield) where she held roles in recruiting and training and development. Valerie received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Florida. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in social and organizational psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Valerie is a Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP). She is also a member of the national chapter of SHRM.

Valerie enjoys building connections with members through ERC networking events and helping strengthen workplace practices. She values the collaborative nature of her work and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across organizations.

Valerie is married with three children and resides in Avon, Ohio. Outside of work, she enjoys supporting her kids at their sporting events, reading, traveling with her family, and finding a great local coffee shop.
