Susan Chermonte

Susan Chermonte is an experienced HR consultant with more than 20 years of human resources experience helping organizations work through complex people issues, strengthen HR practices, and make better workforce decisions. She partners directly with leaders and HR teams to understand what is happening inside an organization, identify practical options, and support solutions that fit the business.
Susan’s background spans a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, nonprofit, accounting, and professional services. She also brings direct manufacturing HR experience from prior roles with Alpha Technologies and Spirol International, giving her a practical understanding of operational environments, employee relations challenges, and the realities of managing people in production-based settings.
Susan’s consulting work includes employee relations, retention and turnover-related projects, culture and employee feedback work, policy development, compensation guidance, career pathing, training strategy, employee handbook development, and support through sensitive performance and termination matters. She has also conducted structured employee interviews, including exit and engagement interviews, along with workplace investigations, bringing discretion, judgment, and consistency to conversations that require trust.
In her work with ERC clients, Susan is often involved in projects that require her to gather candid feedback, identify themes, and help organizations understand what may be happening beneath the surface. She brings a practical HR lens to employee feedback, helping leaders move beyond individual comments to better understand patterns, risks, and opportunities.
Since joining ERC in 2005, Susan has become a trusted resource for employers across Northeast Ohio. She has led ERC’s HR Help Desk, supported hundreds of organizations with day-to-day and complex HR questions, and played a key role in helping members and clients navigate workforce challenges with clarity and confidence. Prior to ERC, Susan held HR management roles with Alpha Technologies, Spirol International, and OfficeMax, where she gained hands-on experience supporting diverse workforces across multiple sectors.
Susan is SHRM-SCP certified and is an active member of the national SHRM organization, as well as the Cleveland SHRM chapter. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Mercyhurst University.
