Employee Handbooks
We review or build your handbook around how your organization operates, check every policy against current federal and state requirements, and put the language through compliance review so you have an up-to-date, compliant handbook.
Employee Handbook Options
We start with a questionnaire and a conversation about how your organization runs, review or build your handbook, and walk you through what we found and how to implement it.

Handbook Review and Update
For a handbook that has drifted out of date, or one written before a merger, an expansion, or a change in how you operate.
What you get
A review of your handbook with recommended language plus a summary of every gap we found.

Custom Handbook Development
For a first handbook, or a replacement for one that no longer describes the company. Common for growing companies, HR departments of one, and non-HR leaders who’ve been handling HR.
What you get
A complete handbook written for your organization plus the acknowledgment form your employees sign.
What an Employee Handbook Project Includes
A policy gap review against current federal and state employment requirements.
Practice alignment. We ask how attendance gets handled, who approves exceptions, and what a supervisor does the first time a situation comes up, then write policies that match the answers.
At-will language, disclaimers, and the acknowledgment form your employees sign.
Clear language so a new hire and a shift supervisor can both read a policy once and know what it means.
Current-issue policies older handbooks tend to miss, including AI use, remote and hybrid work, personal devices, social media, and workplace violence prevention.
Multi-state supplements for employees outside Ohio, so each state’s requirements are covered without rewriting the handbook.
Compliance review of the policy language, then a review call with the certified HR advisor who did the work.
What Makes an Employee Handbook from ERC Different

Policies designed for your organization.
Most templated builders ask for your company name and your state, then fills in the rest for a company it knows nothing about.

Handbook rollout and training support.
Our advisors guide your team on handbook rollout, and we offer supervisor and manager training to reinforce performance conversations, accommodation requests, and handling complaints.

Continuous updates to stay in compliance.
Employment requirements move and organizations change. Many clients come back on an annual review cycle, a shorter and less expensive engagement because we already know your policies and how you run.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Most handbook projects with us land between $2,750 and $4,550. Reviewing an existing handbook sits at the lower end, and building one from scratch for a larger or multi-state organization sits at the higher end. You get a fixed quote before work begins.
No federal law requires one. Several individual policies do become required once you reach certain headcounts, and a handbook is the practical way to document and distribute them. It also gives you a record that employees received the policies, which matters when a decision gets questioned later.
Once a year. Come back sooner if you add a state, go through an acquisition or a restructure, or notice a policy being applied differently than it’s written.
We build state supplements that sit alongside your core handbook, so each state’s requirements are covered while you maintain one document. Tell us which states you employ people in and we’ll scope it.
3 to 4 weeks from the completed questionnaire, for either path. Larger or multi-state projects can run longer, and we’ll tell you upfront if yours will.
