NorthCoast 99 Celebrates Roaring Workplaces

On the evening of September 18, ERC’s NorthCoast 99 program celebrated two decades of honoring best Northeast Ohio workplaces for top talent. The 1920s-themed awards event drew nearly 900 guests to the Hilton Cleveland Downtown to recognize “Roaring Workplaces” for their exemplary human resource practices.

Roaring Workplaces

Early in the magical, Gatsby-inspired evening, the halls of the Hilton filled with post-Prohibition celebrants adorned in feathered headpieces, pearls, fedoras, and other festive period attire. Honorees, sponsors, and special guests mingled in dazzling reception spaces and playfully posed for photo booth pictures and roaming cameras.

Guests settled in the ballroom for dinner, as Lute Harmon Jr. of Cleveland Magazine and Great Lakes Publishing took the stage to kick off the show. Harmon introduced event emcee and ERC president Kelly Keefe, who shared her thrill to applaud this year’s 99 NorthCoast award recipients.

“What an honor it was to emcee the 20th annual NorthCoast event and pay tribute to Northeast Ohio organizations that are making a significant difference in our community,” said Keefe. “I’m grateful that our applicants, sponsors, and staff have made this award and event one of the region’s most prestigious.”

“I’m thankful to have worked with Pat to carry out his vision for NorthCoast 99, and to witness the impact it has made on winning organizations,” said Morse. “A celebrated entrepreneur, speaker, columnist, and author, there is no one more fitting to deliver our 20th anniversary keynote than the founder of the program and chairman of our organization.”

Keynote Entertainment

Perry’s heartfelt keynote emphasized how putting employees and their families first is paramount for building superior workplaces that attract and engage top talent. The stories he told and experiences he shared from his 40-year career all had one message in common: “We know better. Now we must do better.” More of these wisdoms can be found in Pat’s second book, Business Lessons Learned Along the Way. Join us for his book launch on September 26!

When the milestone event drew to a close, attendees left inspired with ideas for creating even greater Northeast Ohio workplaces for top talent. Since its 1999 inception, NorthCoast applicants have continued to raise the bar on what it takes to be a top 99-scoring organization. ERC can’t wait to see what next year’s nominations bring!

Since 1920, ERC has helped organizations nationwide engage and retain top talent.
