Supervisory Series Development Path: Advanced – AM (Formerly Supervisory Series II)

October 4, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$685

Managers and supervisors are expected to achieve business objectives not necessarily through their own technical expertise but through their teams. That’s why it is mission-critical for your managers to develop strong leadership, delegation, and project management skills.

Rooted in years of research and data-driven insights, ERC’s Supervisory Series Development Path equips supervisors and managers with the 10 most critical skills and competencies to successfully tackle challenges and lead others.

The Advanced track includes the final four courses of the series, which focus on the ability to plan and manage work, lead and manage change, lead and manage teams, and hold others accountable. Course lectures are delivered in a practical, “real world” format by facilitators who are experienced with supervision.

During these comprehensive courses, participants will gain fresh insights into their roles via self-assessments, group discussion, and opportunities for practice, and will also receive job aids and resources to apply the skills and implement the best practices they learn. To accentuate the hands-on learning experience, they will journey through the yourERC Learning Portal.

The Fundamentals track includes the first six courses of the series. Supervisors who complete the Fundamentals Track receive their Supervisory Proficiency Certificate, and those who complete Fundamentals and Advanced Tracks receive their Supervisory Mastery Certificate.

Courses in both the Fundamentals and Advanced tracks can be purchased individually. Click on the links below to register for the individual Advanced courses.

Planning & Managing the Work

Supervisors and managers must help employees manage their time, priorities, and projects, in addition to their own. One common pitfall supervisors and managers face is not asking for help and continuing to manage everything themselves. In this virtual, instructor-led training, participants will learn delegation skills and discuss the following topics:
Identifying your accountabilities
Setting priorities
Successful time management strategies
Effective delegation
Efficient meeting management

Leading & Managing Change

Change is inevitable. It’s how change is led and managed that makes the difference. Companies that accept and embrace change are typically healthier, more dynamic, and faster growing than those companies that fear change.
In this virtual, instructor-led training, participants will learn how to look for the opportunity and positivity in change and lead their teams through the change process. Additionally, the following topics will be discussed:
Perceptions of change and their influence on success
Pathways to change
How to influence others
Change management roles and their responsibilities
How to lead the change process

Leading and Managing Teams

Teams are comprised of several individuals with different social styles, personalities, reward and recognition preferences, work prioritization styles, and preferences for receiving feedback. Supervisors and managers have the responsibility of juggling all of these differences while also forming a cohesive, high-performing team. In this virtual, instructor-led training, participants will learn and discuss the following topics:
Importance and power of teams and teamwork
Characteristics of effective teams
Stages of team development
Behaviors of an effective team leader
Consensus in team decision-making

Accountability

When an employee violates an expectation, managers and supervisors are responsible for holding that person accountable. While these conversations may be uncomfortable, they cannot be avoided. In this virtual, instructor-led training course, participants will learn and discuss the following topics:
What it means to take ownership of your work
Signs of not being responsible
How to encourage responsibility
What it means to hold people accountable
How to identify personal and mutual accountability
Strategies for holding people accountable
