Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith assists employers by providing legal counsel and practical HR advice that enables employers to maintain positive, productive workplaces.

As a labor and employment attorney representing management exclusively, Amanda is dedicated to assisting employers with managing their workforce in an effective and, whenever possible, proactive manner.

Her work includes:
Providing practical training to both supervisors and non-supervisors on employment law-related topics (e.g., professionalism and harassment prevention; diversity, equity, and inclusion; managing leaves of absence; supervisory skills).

Counseling employers regarding labor negotiations, litigation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution matters as well as wage/hour compliance, performance and leave management, discipline, and workplace policies.

Conducting workplace investigations.

Representing employers regarding legal claims before state fair employment practice agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

Amanda graduated with honors from the University of Akron School of Law in 2014. She earned a B.S. from Allegheny College and M.S. from Kent State University, each in neuroscience. After deciding science wasn’t her passion, she accepted a job as a legal assistant, instantly finding her calling with the law.

In 2021, Amanda completed a rigorous peer review and examination process in order to be certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a Specialist in Labor and Employment Law. Amanda firmly believes in the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In furtherance of her commitment to advancing DE&I initiatives both at K|W|W and beyond, in December 2021, Amanda completed the National Diversity Council’s DiversityFIRST certification program to become a National Diversity Council Certified Diversity Professional. Amanda is also involved in her community. She serves as a board member for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and the Fairlawn Area Chamber of Commerce.
