Middle Management Coaching
Coaching can provide the one-on-one attention managers need to develop the right skills and behaviors.
Middle management coaching is designed for each manager’s situation and delivered in person or virtually. We measure where they stand before and after so the organization and the manager can track progress.
When Middle Management Coaching is the Right Fit
Coaching is a custom program built around one manager, their goals, and the situations they’re working through. Here’s when manager coaching makes the biggest difference:

A high-performing manager you want to keep and grow
Your best manager is ready for more. Other employers would hire them tomorrow, and the role you have in mind for them next calls for skills they haven’t needed yet. Coaching prepares them for that step and shows them you’re investing in their future with your organization.
Outcomes:
Managers influence peers across functions, lead their teams through change, and build the relationships to manage up and manage down.

A top performer stepping into management
You promoted one of your strongest individual contributors and a few months ago the people reporting to them were their peers. Coaching helps them move from doing the work to leading the people who do it,
Outcomes:
Managers delegate work they used to own, set clear expectations with former peers, and keep relationships strong.

A manager ready to put training into practice
They’ve completed management training and it’s time to build on it. A training course gives managers the foundation. One-on-one coaching applies that foundation to the specific people, projects, and conversations in their exact situation.
Outcomes:
Managers turn what they learned into daily habits and handle the situations that matter most in their role with confidence.

A manager whose direct report’s feedback uncovers a blind spot
Even strong managers have habits they may not be aware of. Feedback from direct reports and peers shows them how their leadership style comes across and where to focus next.
Outcomes:
Managers understand how others experience their leadership, act on the feedback, and build stronger relationships and communication with their teams.
How Middle Management Coaching Works

1
We start with what you’re seeing.
Together we agree on what has to change and how you will know it worked.

2
We find out where the manager stands today.
Before coaching starts, we document where they are so the change later is measurable.

3
We coach based on a development plan.
Sessions are based on the situations each manager faces with a midpoint performance check-in.

4
We measure again.
You see what changed and the manager finishes with a plan for keeping it going.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Middle management coaching is a focused, tailored coaching program built around specific development areas instead of general leadership growth. The coach and the participant work on developing or improving specific behaviors. Sustainable change happens when a leader concentrates on modifying the ineffective behaviors holding them back, and one-on-one coaching with measurables throughout makes that easier to see progress.
Cost depends on the number of sessions, the assessment used, and whether the work happens at your workplace or virtually. Tell us the situation and we will give you a number before you commit to anything.
Most engagements run 5 to 10 sessions over a few months, but it depends on the situation. The cadence flexes around the manager’s schedule, which matters when they may not be able to leave the workplace for a full day.
Both are available. We coach in person, on-site at your workplace, or virtually.
Each coaching engagement includes a leadership application lab/workshop (additional sessions that assess and translate the skills to day-to-day work).
Every coaching engagement includes an assessment given before and after coaching to show progress and measure success.
